Gail Joy Newman Cabaret NYC Danny's Skylight Room

Welcome to my world.

Gail Joy Newman, singer/actor/comic, performs Rock, Blues, Jazz, Southern Rock, Opera, Broadway Showtunes, Cabaret, Rap, Yiddish songs, commercial jingles, T.V. show theme songs, and cell phone ring tones.

Gail studied with John Houseman’s Acting Company, Austin Pendleton, Steve Strimpell and Sandy Dennis at H.B. Studios in NYC.  While studying with Michael Moriarty, she met David Lahm, who was musical arranger for Michael at The Cookery.  Later she had her Cabaret debut at Danny’s Skylight Room with another opportunity to work with David Lahm as arranger, accompanist, advisor, and mentor.  She continues to work with him in other venues and is thrilled to be working with David and Bob Spiotto in celebration of Hofstra University’s 75th Anniversary.

Performing as an actor, Gail has worked with Westco Children’s Theatre at the Westchester Broadway Theater and at the Penguin Repertory Theatre under the direction of Joe Brancato.

Gail has sung with a variety of musicians including Lou Pallo, Erik Lawrence, Loren Korevec, Charles Descarfino, Dan Denerstein, Mark Sganga, Jim West, Wayne Cobham, Tony Jefferson, Cameron Brown, Steve Shelto, Bob Leive, John Arbo, Don Gardner, John Cariddi, Nicole Hart, and Howie Gordon.  She has done background studio vocals with the Grammy award winning musical engineer Larry Alexander.
Gail performs regularly at at Woody’s Parkside Grill in Sparkill, NY with pianist, vocalist and good friend Dan Denerstein.  Other venues include The 76 House, Reality Bites and Wasabe in Rockland County, NY,  private parties, weddings and other events for Bock and Blu Music,  Sweet Music under the musical direction of Marti Sweet,  Ely Katz Symphonia, for Gene Matera, and annually with Dan Denerstein as one of the back-up vocalists for the Rosmarin House Band in Monroe, NY .
